Production Assistant (Sub Assembly 2)
Location: Alrode
Type of employment: Permanent
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Fill and flatten rivet holes;
- Position, align, fit, and attach structural parts, including spars, ribs, brackets, and skins, using riveting techniques;
- Route and install internal wing components, including ailerons, flaps, fuel lines, and wiring harnesses;
- Maintain accurate build records and defect reports.
Essential Requirements:
- Matric;
- Good communication skills;
- Strong proficiency with pneumatic and hand tools (e.g. cleco fasteners, bucking bars, pneumatic riveters, calipers, and micrometers);
- Must possess excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to stand, crouch, and lift heavy assembled wings during the assembly process;
- Willingness to work overtime when required;
- Reliable and trustworthy.

Quality Manager
Location: Tedderfield and Alrode
Type of employment: Permanent
Key Responsibility Areas:
Quality Strategy and Transformation
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with Sling’s premium market positioning;
- Drive the transition to a measurable, data-driven quality management system (QMS);
- Establish clear quality KPI’s and dashboards (e.g. defect rates, rework, first-pass yield, customer returns);
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
Quality Systems and Compliance
- Own and continuously improve the company’s QMS;
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulatory standards (e.g. SACAA, or as applicable);
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s), inspection plans, and quality documentation;
- Drive audit readiness and manage internal and external audits.
Production and Process Quality
- Work closely with production to ensure process capability and repeatability;
- Implement in-process quality controls and reduce reliance on end-of-line inspection;
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects and non-conformance;
- Reduce rework and scrap through structured problem-solving.
Supplier and Incoming Quality
- Establish and manage supplier quality standards and performance metrics;
- Implement robust incoming inspection systems, and supplier audits;
- Work with procurement and suppliers to improve material quality and consistency.
Customer Quality and Feedback
- Develop systems to capture and analyse customer feedback, warranty issues, and field performance;
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvements based on real-world aircraft performance.
Team Leadership and Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team;
- Foster a company-wide culture of quality ownership, where quality is built in—not inspected in;
- Train cross-functional teams on quality principles, standards, and best practices.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field;
- 3 years’ experience in quality management within manufacturing;
- Proven experience implementing or transforming a QMS;
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean, root cause analysis);
- Experience working with regulated industries (preferably aerospace, automotive, or similar high-precision sectors);
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence change.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in aviation or aerospace manufacturing;
- Familiarity with airworthiness and regulatory frameworks;
- Certification in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or equivalent;
- Experience building quality dashboards and using data analytics tools.

Skilled Production Assistant (Maintenance)
Location: Alrode

Key Responsibility Areas:
- Assist senior technicians with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks;
- Perform routine inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting on aircraft production equipment;
- Help with the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and electrical systems;
- Support production schedules by ensuring equipment is operational;
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment;
- Keep accurate records of work done and materials used.
Essential Requirements:
- Millwright or Electrical Trade (or equivalent);
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems;
- Good communication skills;
- Must be able to work overtime as and when required;
- Experience in maintenance or manufacturing environment is advantageous;
- A valid driver’s license is an advantage.

Production Assistant (Parts Manufacturing)
Location: Alrode

Key Responsibility Areas:
- Cleaning and deburring of parts;
- Aluminum stock count and covering;
- Flat pattern checks;
- Loading and offloading material into containers;
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping in line with the company’s 5S policy;
- Performing ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Essential Requirements:
- Matric;
- Proficiency in English (read, write, speak);
- Strong attention to detail;
- Ability to work under pressure and be proactive;
- Technical background (advantageous);
- Related work experience (advantageous).

Production Assistant (Picker)
Location: Alrode
Type of employment: Permanent
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Daily picking of parts for allocated kits in accordance with build specifications and production schedules;
- Ensure all picking activities are completed accurately and within required timeframes;
- Maintain bin locations and replenish stock in line with 5S standards;
- Verify that picking slips correspond with scanned transfers;
- Ensure the condition and quality of all picked parts meet required standards;
- Record and report out-of-stock items and back orders;
- Pick back-ordered parts to ensure maximum kit completeness;
- Participate in stock takes and report stock variances and queries;
- Always maintain good housekeeping standards within the stores department;
- Assist team members as required to ensure kits are completed within schedule deadlines.
Essential Requirements:
- Matric;
- Minimum of 2 years’ picking experience within a warehouse environment;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office;
- Willingness and ability to work weekends when required.
