This Man Built A Plane For His Family In His Garden (CNN)

“Mechanical engineer, Ashok Aliseril, spent 18 months building his four-seater Sling TSi aircraft so that he could fly his family around the UK.

It wasn’t until he moved near to an airfield in the UK over a decade ago that he began to seriously consider learning to fly a plane. He got his first taste of flying a few years later, when his wife, Abhilasha, bought him a 30-minute flight experience for his birthday.

Aliseril, who is based in Essex, England, booked in some flying lessons at a local airfield and flew to the Isle of Wight, an island off the English south coast, during his first session. “That was quite an eye-opener into how flying gives you the freedom to just go places if you have that ability and access to an aircraft,” he tells CNN Travel. “So that really got me hooked.”

Slingers, get ready to feel the burn!

The Tanqua Kuru is calling and we’re answering

It’s go‑time! Load up your gear, strap on your gravel shoes, and aim for the wide‑open Karoo horizon. The Tanqua Kuru is calling, and we’re answering with throttles, pedals, and hearts wide open. At least four Sling aircraft and our solid team of riders will make the pilgrimage to Tankwa Tented Camp for what’s become an annual tradition of grit, gravel, and greatness.

But that’s not all!

There’s still one title former Springbok Bob Skinstad hasn’t claimed… This isn’t a stadium victory. No crowds, no ceremony, no easy applause. This one is fought for. Across endless gravel, through the dust, under the relentless Tankwa sun. And he’s chasing it down on a Sling Cycles Tagati. So, the question is — when he rolls up to the start line… will you be there with him?
