Three Sling High Wings Fly To Oshkosh (African Pilot)

“I caught up with James Pitman at the Sling factory on his return to South Africa following the terrific journey of three Sling High Wing aircraft to EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh and, in his case, on to Greece for a family holiday with his partner, Andrea.

Following their 73 flight hours from Johannesburg to AirVenture in July this year, I caught up with the Sling team in Oshkosh as they landed just minutes before the start of the Wednesday airshow. With EAA AirVenture probably the finest opportunity to launch the new high-wing variation of the highly-regarded low-wing Sling TSi, the South African manufacturer did this in spectacular fashion by flying the development prototype, as well as production serial numbers one and two, all the way from Johannesburg.”

Slingers, get ready to feel the burn!

The Tanqua Kuru is calling and we’re answering

It’s go‑time! Load up your gear, strap on your gravel shoes, and aim for the wide‑open Karoo horizon. The Tanqua Kuru is calling, and we’re answering with throttles, pedals, and hearts wide open. At least four Sling aircraft and our solid team of riders will make the pilgrimage to Tankwa Tented Camp for what’s become an annual tradition of grit, gravel, and greatness.

But that’s not all!

There’s still one title former Springbok Bob Skinstad hasn’t claimed… This isn’t a stadium victory. No crowds, no ceremony, no easy applause. This one is fought for. Across endless gravel, through the dust, under the relentless Tankwa sun. And he’s chasing it down on a Sling Cycles Tagati. So, the question is — when he rolls up to the start line… will you be there with him?
